Stephen Banks, President, has more than 25 years experience in grants development and management in universities and non-profit health care and medical organizations. Mr. Banks holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Florida International University and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Florida Atlantic University. In 1994, Mr. Banks established One River Grants, a full-service grants company that offers comprehensive services in the identification and matching of programs with funding sources, concept design and program development, literature review and research, coordination, preparation and submission of grant applications, and consultation for ongoing grants administration. In 2000, Mr. Banks established egrants.net, an internet based company that provides current and comprehensive information on grant opportunities in medicine and health care that are available through federal, State, and private funding sources.
Jennifer Burden joined One River Grants in 2005 and has a research background with particular expertise in study design, evaluation, and community-based participatory research. Previously, Dr. Burden served as Project Manager for a multi-component intervention targeting childhood nutrition and overweight in two urban Massachusetts cities. Currently, she is an adjunct faculty member in the Exercise Science department at Skidmore College and holds editorial responsibilities for three research publications: Health Education & Behavior, Ecology of Food & Nutrition and Alternative Therapies in Health & Medicine. Dr. Burden is a Certified Health Education Specialist, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Community Health from SUNY College at Potsdam, and a doctoral degree in nutrition from Harvard University with special concentrations in epidemiology and maternal child health.
Barry Gell joined One River Grants in 2008, bringing more than10 years of grant development and writing experience to the company. His previous experience includes grant and program work for the New York State Department of Health, Albany Medical College, and a health services research foundation. Mr. Gell has an in-depth understanding of the US health care system from multiple perspectives including public health, health service delivery, and managed care. He holds a Masters Degree in Health Policy, Management and Behavior from the SUNY Albany School of Public Health.
Michele Grubb, a Senior Writer with One River Grants since 2005, has extensive experience in grants development in academic settings, including writing her own research proposals to the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health. Dr. Grubb has a thorough understanding of state and federal grant programs and processes and is able to articulate complex ideas into fundable grant proposals. She holds a PhD in neuroscience from the University of Virginia.
Karen Norton, Senior Writer, holds a Master's in Public Health, is a licensed nursing home administrator, and has more than 20 years of experience working for non-profit hospitals and health systems in the Northeast in health care planning, development, and decision support. She is experienced in writing certificate of need applications and grants to obtain funding for health care delivery, building, and capital equipment projects; conducting grant research; grants management; and new project start-ups.
One River Grants has a professional staff of writers, librarians, researchers,
budget analysts, fund raisers, and development specialists who work with clients
through a variety of services.
